I managed a used book for three years, starting the summer after I graduated high school. I would find so many odd things in books it was great. Sometimes more interesting than the books themselves.
The most interesting thing I found was a strange pencil drawing of a carriage with a big face on it. Underneath it said ‘lascivious carriage’ and a news clipping was pasted on the back of the drawing which detailed some Yale students who had been arrested on such a charge.
I wish I had kept it but I’m pretty sure my boss wanted it.
