You think you know what this is but you’re wrong. This is actually a Finnish military medal from the 1940s. The swastika has long been a Finnish national symbol, since the 1700s in fact. Despite this, there is no denying that there is more than a slight similarity to the Nazi swastika, especially since it is inside an iron cross.
During the Second World War, Finland mostly fought against the Soviet Union and was thus in co-belligerance with Nazi Germany. Despite this, Finland did fight Nazi Germany over their expansion into Lapland but the scale of fighting was very small compared with the rest of the war. Wikipedia has an interesting assessment of Finland’s relationship with Nazi Germany during the war.
Considering that Finland relied heavily on German support in the defense of their borders against Soviet imperialism, it shouldn’t be a surprise that many of the uniforms and regalia from that time are heavily influenced by the Nazi style.
Peter and I saw this in a Finnish supermarket and decided that Trädgård would be the perfect name for a fascist paramilitary movement. Everybody watch out when the Trädgård hit the streets, they’re drunk and numerous and looking to brain effete, Cosmopolitan liberals and other traitors to the nation. The Trädgård!

Every fascist group had really cool uniforms and bad ass murder guy leaders while all major leftists except for maybe young stalin are all misshapen weirdos. which is unfair cuz fascists were lamelord petit-bourge gun thugs for finance capital and latifundia rural oligarchs. im piss.
My favorite fascist group was La Cagoule. Their official name was the Secret Committee of Revolutionary Action which is obviously awesome and sinister. They once murdered a police agent who had infiltrated their organization on a train. The murder was like something out of a great mystery novel:
On the 16th of May 1937, Laetitia Toureaux was found stabbed to death in an otherwise empty 1st class compartment of the Paris Metro. The subway train had left the terminus, Porte de Charenton, at 6:27 p.m. and had arrived at the next station, Porte Dorée, at 6:28 p.m. Witnesses at both stations swore nobody was seen getting in or out of the compartment, and witnesses in both adjacent compartments swore that nobody had tried to enter the one where Mlle. Toureaux’s body was found. The murderer had one minute and twenty seconds at his disposal. Neither the murderer nor the method of his escape was ever discovered.
